Get Out Of Your Own Way

The other day I was asked a simple question... “What is the biggest obstacle in your life?”. I thought about many different things, ranging from lack of money to pointless stress. After creating a list of several things that I wished was “better” in my life, I realized the root to all of these obstacles was myself. What often takes a person their whole life to figure out is that their biggest obstacle is themself and once they get past that, they can conquer anything.

As humans, we are constantly judging ourselves, often wishing we were someone else or living a different life. What is so evident yet so difficult to accept is that you will never be anybody but yourself, and you should love that.

The first step is to accept who you are and that there is no way to change that. Love yourself, unconditionally, and life will become a whole lot easier and less stressful.

Don’t let yourself be what is holding you back from following your dreams. Be willing to take risks, especially while you are young because you have nothing to lose. Being able to look back on your life, thankful that you tried different things even if some failed, will be so rewarding.

Entering the “adult world” can be such a scary thing, full of situations that put you out of your comfort zone. I have only been adulting for a short time and I have already had my fair share of situations that I didn’t feel confident going into. What I have realized though is that the more times I am put in situations out of my comfort zone, the more confident I become in myself.

If you want to apply for a specific job position, yet are afraid that there are so many other highly qualified candidates, then get that out of your head and get out of your own way! You are a rock star and have so many different unique qualities that you can bring to the table for a company. Confidence in yourself is the biggest asset one can have, and once you have achieved that, the sky is the limit.

Once I reached a point of fully accepting and loving who I am, it felt like a weight was lifted off my shoulders. I began focusing on things I was passionate about, such as writing, and ways to involve those passions in my everyday life. This blog is an example of that. While I was hesitant to start one at first, I decided what the heck, I have nothing to lose! Plus, this is an outlet for my writing, which is something I love.

So what are you passionate about? What are your dreams and ambitions?

Let me know in the comments below, I would love to hear about them!
