Engagement Photo Outfit Ideas: Part 1
/Hi guys and Happy Valentines Day!! Today I am sharing one of our looks from our Engagement shoot!! I thought today was the perfect time to share these with you all (:
A little backstory of these photos: the day before this shoot my friend Sara texted me and asked if we wanted to do a couples shoot up in the mountains! Of course we said yes, so we ran to the mall to try and pick out last minute outfits. I knew I wanted to wear a dress and have more of an epic, romantic feel for these photos so when I found this sage green dress I fell in love!! One of our wedding colors is sage green so I love how it all ties together.
During the actual shoot it was soooo unbelievably cold. I'm talking 8 degrees cold. I mentioned in a previous post that I want to be super open and real with you guys so I wanted to give a little behind the scenes of what was going on when these stunning photos were taken! Because it was so freezing outside, we were bundled up in jackets and blankets and then right before a photo was taken we would throw them off, shoot the photos in the location real fast, and then bundle back up! I even had toe warmers in my shoes because I was convinced my feet were getting frost bite haha, the things we do for pretty photos 😅 What you also don't see by just looking at these photos is what happened at the top of the mountain. We had finally made it to the top and it was sooooo cold and windy that Chris got a bloody nose! I remember looking at him for one of the shots and seeing blood running down his nose and I was just thinking, "oh gosh we HAVE to get these photos, this is the whole reason we came here!". We had nothing to wipe his nose with and Chris was such a champ about it all so he just pulled back his sleeve, wiped his nose on his ARM hahaha, pulled down the sleeve, and kept shooting 😂 Even though we were absolutely miserable at that moment, it is so funny for us to look at these photos now and think about those moments. Plus, we were able to get some absolutely beautiful photos, thanks to Sara, which made it all worth it!
What stood out to me most during this shoot was how thoughtful and caring Chris was the entire time. Not once did he complain about how cold he was or about not wanting to take photos. Every time we shot some pictures, he would quickly grab a blanket and jacket to bundle me up and I seriously could not stop thinking about how lucky I am to get to marry this man!! With today being Valentines Day, I have to give a little shout out to him. He is the absolute best thing to happen to me and I could not be more thankful to get to spend the rest of my life with him. From supporting my blog and dreams, to making me feel like the most loved girl on the planet not just today, but everyday, he really is the best. And he's pretty photogenic too! Might have to get him in front of the camera more 😉
I tried to pick my favorites for you all which was so. hard. If any of you are engaged and thinking about engagement outfits, I would definitely suggest doing a more formal look and a casual look! We did both - I will be sharing the casual look soon! For formal photos, I personally think long dresses are so much more impactful so I would recommend going with a full length dress! If you want a short dress, maybe save that for the casual look. When the weather warms up we will be doing another shoot and I'm definitely wanting a short dress for that session. I'll be sure to share those photos with you all as well! As for colors, I know the typical go-to is red, which I absolutely love, but don't be afraid to try something different! I honestly thought I was going to wear a red dress for these photos, but when I stumbled upon this sage one I fell in love 💕 For your man's outfit, I think it looks best when they are in a more neutral color. If you decide that you want him to be wearing a pop of color, make sure it is subtle and compliments your look. I included both our looks below for you all to shop as well!
Happy Valentines Day! XOXO Heather
